Clogging teams, dancers win big at competition

Dance Factory Clogging Nationals 2019

The dancers performed a group number dressed as "Avengers" characters.

The Dance Factory of Morganton competed at the National Clogging and Hoedown Council’s 2019 USA National Clogging Championships on Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. The dancers faced off against more than 20 teams and 198 team dances.

The Dance Factory’s clogging teams and solo dancers took home many awards, including:

The dancers also performed a show number featuring Marvel Comics’ “Avengers” characters that the audience loved, according to Angela Hensley, office manager at The Dance Factory. The group will perform the dance again at the Historic Morganton Festival .

“This is a amazing performance,” Hensley said. “This number wowed the audience in Nashville, and we know it will at the Morganton Festival. Choreographed by Emily Hensley and Katie Puckett, this dance is full of amazing things the kids will love to watch. ”

The Dance Factory had five team members picked for the Dollywood All Star team. Students chosen include Kennedy Denton, Brooklyn Beamish and Leah Lackey. Emily Hensley and Lani Reece , both directors at The Dance Factory were also picked. The team will perform at the 5th Annual Josie Music Awards, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, in the Celebrity Theater at the Dollywood theme park.
