Public notice: State Street milling and resurfacing project

The City of Bristol, Virginia, will begin a routine milling, resurfacing and restriping project on State Street between Commonwealth Avenue and Buford Street beginning the night of June 21, 2026. Work is expected to be completed by approximately June 26, 2026, weather permitting.

All milling and resurfacing work will be performed at night in an effort to reduce daytime traffic impacts and minimize disruption to businesses, residents and visitors. Motorists should expect temporary lane closures, construction equipment and workers in the area during active construction hours.

The City asks all drivers to exercise caution, reduce speed and remain alert when traveling through the work zone to help protect crews working along the roadway.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to continue supporting and patronizing State Street businesses throughout the project. Local enterprises are a vital part of Bristol’s community, and the City appreciates the public’s continued support of these businesses during this needed infrastructure work.
