ROCK HILL, S.C. — Kyle Perry snagged a deflected punt and took it 56 yards to the house in Catawba football's win over Emory & Henry, warranting his WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week selection on Monday.
The Harrisburg, N.C., native's first career return and touchdown put Catawba on the board in Saturday's 24-10 conference victory. Perry also had a stout day at his normal post in the secondary with four solo tackles. The win brought the Catawba Indians back to .500 at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in SAC play.
Perry is Catawba's first football POTW representative of the year and the first since last season's Oct. 6 release. The Catawba Indians' last special teams honoree was Juice Martin on Oct. 21, 2024, a defensive back who won it with an interception return.
Catawba hits the road on Saturday, Sept. 26, to face Tusculum.
