Juneteenth holiday closings and revised sanitation schedules
In observance of Juneteenth, all City of Statesville offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026.
Residential Sanitation Routes for June 15-19:
- Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, June 18.
Commercial Sanitation Routes for June 15-20 (for roll-out carts and garbage containers):
- Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, June 18.
- Saturday routes will operate on their regular schedule.

Facility Hours:
- The Statesville Recreation Center, Bentley Community Center, and Statesville Splash Pad will be closed on June 19.

Celebrating 160 years - a Juneteenth legacy
The community is invited to come together for a celebration of freedom, culture, history, and unity at this year’s Juneteenth Statesville Celebration in Downtown Statesville on June 20, 2026 from 11a-7p. City of Statesville launches 2026 school supply drive
The City is once again rallying the community to help local students start the school year prepared and ready to learn. Beginning June 17 and continuing through July 24, residents are encouraged to donate school supplies at collection sites throughout the city.
Donations will support the Village Intervention Partnership's (VIP) annual backpack giveaway during the Statesville Heritage Festival on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Statesville Event Center. Learn more here.

Waste & Recycling Workers Week
Waste & Recycling Workers Week (June 15–20, 2026) recognizes the dedicated employees who help keep Statesville clean, safe, and healthy through garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulky waste collection.
The City of Statesville invites residents to celebrate these essential workers by sharing stories, shoutouts, and photos of employees who have made a positive impact in their neighborhoods. Selected submissions will be highlighted during Waste & Recycling Workers Week to honor the people who serve our community every day. Learn more here.
Summer youth sports & fitness opportunities
From team sports and summer camps to tennis, pickleball, and youth fitness programs, Statesville Recreation & Economic Vitality (REV) offers a wide variety of opportunities to help young athletes stay active, build confidence, and develop new skills this summer! Select one or all of the programs below to learn more:
Fall Youth Leagues: Registration is now open in soccer, softball and volleyball. Registration closes July 1st. Learn more here.
Summer Sports Camps: Weekly camps available from June 1st thru July 9th in wrestling, tennis, track & field, softball, baseball, volleyball, and soccer. Registration closes the Friday prior to each camp start date.
Youth Tennis: Unlock their tennis potential with year-round youth tennis! Monthly group tennis lessons are the perfect way to dive into the world of tennis or enhance your existing skills. Registering now for June and July sessions.
Pickleball: Ready to join one of the fastest-growing sports in the country? Whether you've never held a paddle or are looking for a refresher on the fundamentals, this program will give you the skills and confidence to enjoy the game. The upcoming July course is for ages 14 - 17! Registration ends July 3rd.
Youth Fit: Welcome to our introductory fitness class designed exclusively for ages 11-13! We understand the importance of instilling healthy habits from a young age, and our "Youth Fit" Program aims to do just that. What sets our program apart is that upon successful completion of the course, participants gain access to our Statesville Recreation Center, even if they don't meet the age requirements. Administrative Associate - City Administration (Part-Time): This position provides administrative and clerical support to City Administration staff. The role performs a variety of office and customer service functions requiring confidentiality, accuracy, and organizational efficiency.
Administrative Associate - Event Center (Part-Time): This position provides clerical and administrative support to the Statesville Event Center. Responsibilities include assisting with event documentation, client communication, scheduling support, records management, and general office operations. This role supports event coordination efforts and ensures accurate record keeping and compliance with City policies and procedures.
