KINGSTON, ON, Canada – The High Point University volleyball program had two players selected to play in the 2026 NORCECA Women's U21 Pan American Cup for the Canadian national team. Élodie Lalonde, a 6'1" outside hitter, and Maya Bukovcan, a 6'3" middle blocker, both from Ottawa, Ontario, will represent HPU on Team Canada this summer. The games will take place from July 7-12 at the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Lalonde appeared in 27 matches and 92 sets during the 2025 season and helped guide HPU to its third consecutive Big South regular-season and tournament title victories. She led the team on the attack with 339 kills, averaging 3.68 per set on a .235 hit percentage. She registered 19 matches with 10-plus kills on the outside attack, including four matches with 20-plus kills, and exploded with a career-high 26 kills at USC Upstate (Oct. 18) while adding 10 digs and 2 assists. The 26 kills ranks top 10 in program history in single-match kills. Following the season Lalonde was named to the Big South first team all-conference. This will be Lalonde's second season playing on the U21 Canadian national team.
Bukovcan's breakout freshman season
Bukovcan was named the Big South Freshman of the Year in 2025 after helping the Panthers to their third straight Big South regular-season and tournament titles. She appeared in all 28 matches and 104 sets while registering 227 kills, averaging 2.18 kills per set with a Big South and team-leading .389 hitting percentage on the middle attack. She had 10 games with double-digit kills and registered a season-high 18 versus Yale (Sept. 6). She finished second in the Big South averaging 1.11 blocks per set, totaling 115 during the season, and posted a season-high nine blocks in the third game of the season against BYU (Aug. 30). A year ago, Bukovcan competed on the U19 Canadian national team.
